A Past VOB Event
The retired vets of US Navy Sailing
invited Vets, their families, and their special guests
to a private
“Get Away from it All” Day of Fun
on the Chesapeake Bay and at the United States Powerboat Show
in Annapolis
Friday, October 17, 2008
The event featured:
- a narrated, one-hour boat ride in Historic Annapolis Harbor, courtesy of Watermark Cruises
- a box lunch to enjoy aboard, courtesy of Morton's Steak House
- free entry into the United States Powerboat Show, courtesy of the show, or
- time to relax at the Fleet Reserve Club or to explore downtown Annapolis
Transportation was provided – departure at approximately 0830, return by 1600.
This time we welcomed veterans and their families who are recuperating at medical faciliites at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the National Naval Medical Center at Bethesda, Ft. George G. Meade, Marine Corps Base Quantico, and Ft. Belvoir.
Volunteers helped out and joined in, and we got some fresh air, and enjoyed the local treasure that is the Chesapeake Bay while honoring the service of these heroes.
